Fortnight Notes- Trust the Process

The last couple of weeks have been up and down and I have learnt to trust the process.

As a human, as a woman, I physically and mentally can't give 100% all the time. Last week proved that. My hormones meant my head was mush for at least half the week. I spent an inordinate amount of time staring at my screen, trying to get my brain to work.

This is where getting outside, away from the computer, ALWAYS helps! Though it isn't the only thing needed and sometimes you just need to trust that the work will get done, another day.

It's weeks like this when working for yourself can feel quite lonely and frustrating... don't do any work, don't get paid.

I start to look at full time jobs, thinking 'ooo I could have days where I don't get a lot done and still get paid'.

I only need to look at annual leave allowance and that idea promptly leaves my mind.

Anyway, despite the brain fuzz, I still got a fair bit done...

Open Youth Infrastructure

  • Lots of fab meetings with people interested in learning more about the Open Youth Infrastructure project - another example of 'Trust the process' - the projects I work on at NPC are often big ideas and can feel quite abstract, but the more conversations, the more things start to come together. Things are coming together on this project! Yay!
  • Planning and prep for our first Open 'Open Youth Infrastructure' workshop on Tuesday (12pm online) next week. If you are interested in learning more or want to attend drop me an email [email protected]

Governance and strategy work

I'm working with an education charity on their governance and after last week's proposal have been successful in helping them with their strategy too. Hurrah!

Peak District National Park Foundation

  • Went to the launch of a toilet - a super duper accessible one - something the Foundation in part funded. Great to see more access projects becoming reality in the national park

Writing

  • Absolutely nothing for my blog or book - this is always the things that slip when other areas gets busy and I really want to find space so this doesn't happen!

Hiking 36 miles this weekend with Grace Wilson and 60 other people who have signed up for komoot 's Peak District Hiking Rally. I am doing a campfire talk tonight about my hike across national parks . Wish me luck x

Love this and good luck with the hike this weekend! (Am also now thinking about a world where forward thinking employers start breaking tradition on holiday allowance to attract more talent as it’s such a stickler for so many amazing freelancers ??)
