Forties oil pipeline to be closed for repairs
12 December, 2017
A major oil pipeline in the UK is being closed for urgent repairs after a crack was discovered in Aberdeenshire.
The Forties pipeline, owned by Ineos, carries crude oil from the North Sea across land for processing at Grangemouth.
More than 80 platforms that supply oil through the pipeline will have to suspend production, driving the price of Brent crude up 2% to US$64.69 (£48.49).
The pipeline could be shut for repairs for about three weeks.
