When did you last review your processes and employee documents?
As the law is ever-changing, it can be hard to keep up to date with legislation changes when trying to run a business.?Are your employment documents still up to date and fit for purpose?
Tribunal cases over the years can include cases relating to:

The service is a no-obligation review and you can therefore decide if you’d like to go ahead with our recommendations, it’s as simple as that!

Dangers of paying cash in hand
It is perfectly legal to pay employees in cash, whether it’s full-time staff or part-time workers. However, there are very strict rules about how you must operate if you do pay cash.
Employers have to make sure that the employees understand their legal rights and entitlements before accepting cash payments.?NI, PAYE, and Tax will also need to be calculated separately.

Gas fitter and builder sentenced for unregistered gas work
A gas fitter and building company has been sentenced following unsafe and unregistered gas work.
Southwark Crown Court heard that Valentin Pauliuc, trading as VP Plumbing & Heating, was hired in February 2019 by HSM Builders Limited, the principal contractor for a domestic renovation in South London, to carry out plumbing and gas work including the installation of a new gas boiler and gas cooker.
However, some of the gas work was later found by a Gas Safe Register inspector to be ‘Immediately Dangerous’, meaning it would be an immediate danger to life or property is connected to a live gas supply, as it was in this case.
A Health and Safety Executive (HSE) investigation found that Mr Pauliuc was not registered with the Gas Safe Register, which is a requirement under the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998 for people who undertake gas work, and that HSM Builders did not check that he was registered to do the work.
This case is a timely reminder and highlights the importance of making the right appointment of Gas work contractors, ensuring those doing the Gas work are Gas Safe Registered Engineers.
