I love Math and English. I can't seem to choose which I like better. ?
On one hand, I love how in math, all you need to do is apply the necessary formulas to get your answer.?No matter how many people are solving an equation, as long as they all use the right formula and follow the right procedure, they will all get the same result.?
There is only one correct answer.?
It’s funny that I love English for the exact opposite reason. I love that English can be explained.?
We won’t all have the same answer in a composition or comprehension. There’s space to express yourself.?
There are a number of correct answers.
When I need surety, I turn to math. And when I’m feeling creative? I like to express myself in writing.?
My preference for both subjects is a bit like how life works.
There are some challenges that require the same formula, like math.?
For example, to be good academically, you have to study. There’s no other way.?
It’s the same for learning a new skill, you have to Practice! Practice! Practice!
You need to save up? You have to consistently deposit a certain amount into your account every month, so you’ll achieve your financial goal in due time.
But life is not always a math problem.?
A lot of the time, it feels like English. There’s no single “right answer,” and there’s no formula that guarantees success.?
In our careers, for example, life can feel like English.?
Two people could take completely different paths and still find success. One might focus on networking and building relationships, while another relies on building skills.?
Both approaches can be valid, just as two students can interpret a piece of literature differently but still arrive at thoughtful conclusions.

There’s no better approach when it comes to life.?
Different seasons call for different perspectives.?
Some seasons need the precision and structure of math, where consistency and discipline are non-negotiable. Other times, we need the adaptability, creativity and self-expression of English.
Both the math and English sides of life are important. The structure of math keeps us grounded, disciplined and focused. The freedom of English, on the other hand, keeps us human, allowing us to connect with others, explore new ideas, and express our individuality.
This can be seen in almost everything we do.?
For instance, when building a business, you need the “math” side of planning, financial projections, and a clear strategy. But you also need the “English” side: creativity to market your product, emotional intelligence to connect with clients, and the ability to adapt to challenges.
Even in personal growth, the same duality exists. There are moments when you need discipline; like in waking up early, sticking to your goals, and putting in consistent effort. But there are also moments when you need to give yourself grace, explore new passions, or be flexible.
Life is both math and English, and the beauty lies in learning to navigate both.
Finding the right balance between these two approaches is what helps us grow, adapt, and thrive. After all, life is not just about solving problems or expressing ourselves; it’s about doing both, in harmony.
Have an awesome week!
See you next Sunday!
