Formidable Sports
It is a proud movement that Neeraj Chopra won silver in Javelin at the world athletics championship in Eugene, US. He is the first Indian male and second after Anju Bobby George's bronze in women's long jump to win at the world athletic championship.
In India, most of us are concerned only about cricket as a sport. Even in some schools, sports are boycotted for the student in the name of exams and the future. Also, many parents have thought if their child concentrates more on sports his future will be spoiled. There are also some parents and teachers who give their whole-hearted support and encouragement but those kinds of people are very few.
Everyone admires Dhoni, Kohli, Sachin, Neeraj, Viswanathan Anand, Sindhu, and many more, but they never think their children to be sports people. India with a more than 1.3 billion population we have 35 medals in Olympics. My point is not everyone needs to win in the Olympics but the mindset should be changed and understand the value of sports.
With the emerging new technologies, it is possible to get entertained but we should also spend some time on sports and games. Also, everyone is aware of the benefits of sports and there is no point in iterating them again and again as in our school books.
So be proud and take things sportive.
