I happened to be UP MONDAY MORNING SEPTEMBER 25th, 2023 checking my online functions finding in “Reviewing the Situation” ! Pages 90-to-91 reads - ( & ) – I will state in my own fashion, okay - { ??? } - sometimes re-quoting ~
Page 90: “… World War I was raging in Europe. The women of Greenport were knitting for the Red Cross. The unemployment situation in the country was very grave and churches in New York and Brooklyn were joined in doing what they could to help.

completed on Front and Main Streets. Talking pictures were being shown at the Opera House.
In 1915 the first Boy Scout troop in Greenport was organized by Rev. Harry Rice, rector of Holy Trinity Church.
The proposition for the appropriation of $10,000 for purchasing Main Street was defeated.
During July, Plum Island was the scene of a military training camp for boys 15 to 18 years of age.
Capt. William Dennis (captain of Morton's Point schooner yacht "Elena") won the Astor and also the King's cup in the ocean race.

"Due to rapidly increasing numbers of automobiles in the business section, making it difficult for those driving to town with horses to find places for conveyances while shopping, it is suggested that Adams Street be closed to motor cars, and hitching racks and posts erected on both sides of the street."
"A new moving picture theatre on Front Street has been erected on both sides of the street."
Eight-hundred people can sit in the theatre; six-hundred in the orchestra; two-hundred in the balcony.
