Former Galloway Twp. Resident Convicted of Animal Cruelty
MAYS LANDING, NJ – On Monday, June 17, 2024, Lisa Monzo, 59, formerly of Galloway Township, NJ, was convicted of five counts of fourth-degree animal cruelty upon the conclusion of a bench trial in Superior Court.? The Court found that Monzo failed to provide the requisite care for a dog, two cats, and two birds.
On November 4, 2022, the animals were located in Monzo’s residence by officers from the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office and the Galloway Township Police Department.? Their living conditions were described as “deplorable” with no fresh water, edible food, or clean and habitable living conditions.? All the animals were removed from the residence, assessed medically, and placed in rehabilitative and foster living situations.
The defendant will be sentenced in September, 2024.?
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office thanks the officers of the Galloway Township Police Department and the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office as well as the Animal Control Agency who assisted in the removal and rehoming of the animals and birds located in the residence.?
We also remind the public that neglect is a form of animal cruelty and ask the public to report any incidents of animal cruelty to their local police departments.
