Today, we need to be more than writers.
Fussy readers dictate we become typographical designers. Long, plain-vanilla blocks of uninterrupted text just aren’t sexy. A drudge to read.
Copy needs to appeal to the eye, invite you in, offer enough variation to keep you engaged.
This can be done with shorter paragraphs of differing sizes, occasional indents, emboldened type, clipped sentences.
If everything you’re currently writing looks as indomitable as the El Capitan massif at Yosemite, you need to break it up a bit.
Examine text treatments online and off and note what kind of formatting appeals to you, makes you want to dive in and read.
Then incorporate those styles into your own work.
