Format of OET Writing Task

The OET Writing task is a 45-minute task in which you will be asked to write a letter in response to a healthcare-related scenario. The letter should be approximately 180-200 words long and must be written in a formal tone.

The format of the OET Writing task is as follows:

  • Introduction: The introduction should include the name of the patient, the patient's medical complaint, and the purpose of the letter.
  • Body: The body of the letter should provide a summary of the patient's medical history, including relevant test results and clinical findings.
  • Conclusion: The conclusion should summarize the main points of the letter and make a recommendation or request.

The OET Writing task is scored on a scale of 0 to 50, with 50 being the highest score. Your score will be based on the following criteria:

  • Accuracy of grammar and spelling
  • Clarity and conciseness of expression
  • Appropriateness of tone and style
  • Relevance to the task
  • Overall effectiveness of the letter
