"be like water". That is what the banner image on my LinkedIn profile reads.
Water has some very unique properties. It can exist as a solid (ice), liquid (water) or gas (water vapour). It can also exist in all the 3 forms simultaneously at Triple Point.
Besides those chemical properties of water, it has a few other interesting properties. Water can take the shape of any vessel it is in. It can reach all the possible nooks and corners of the vessel. In a still state, it will always try to maintain the surface horizontally.
Water is "formless". It has no form. Just like water, people shouldn't allow themselves to get trapped in a certain mindset. Instead, a person should be able to adapt to situations, grow and change.
"Be formless?... shapeless, like water." - Those were the words of the famous Bruce Lee, who is very well known as one of the greatest martial artists of all times, but less as a philosopher and poet.
Every person has so many chemicals and, hence, emotions running inside them at various degrees. A person must also learn how to control those emotions and stay calm.
While it is easier said than done, one can start being cognizant and self-analytical of their behaviour. This can help improve the reaction, presentation and communication in various situations. Let's try to be like water.
