?? FORM FOLLOWS LIFE RESEARCH - KEY INSIGHTS AND INSPIRATION!

Hey there, design enthusiasts!

We’re excited to share some incredible insights from our research for the Form Follows Life competition. Together with our competition partners from Universidade de Lisboa, Instituto de Ciências Sociais, and Bleib Urban Living Berlin, we've gathered a collection of ideas and perspectives to inspire your designs as you reimagine urban spaces. We are today sharing with you some of?the main topics:

/////////////

1. GARDEN CITIES AND NATURE-BASED SOLUTIONS

Urban areas designed with nature at their core, promoting ecological balance and human well-being. Explore how integrating green spaces can transform urban living.

2. BIOMIMICRY AND LIFE'S PRINCIPLES

Learn from nature's 3.8 billion years of R&D to create sustainable and innovative architectural designs that mimic natural processes.

3. CO-HABITATION: CITIES AND OTHER-THAN-HUMANS

Design urban spaces that accommodate both humans and wildlife, creating environments where various species can coexist and thrive.

4. PHYTOPOLIS: CITIES AND PLANTS

Imagine cities where plants dominate, contributing to cleaner air, enhanced biodiversity, and improved quality of life for urban residents.

5. REGENERATIVE DESIGN AND EVOLUTIONARY APPROACHES

Shift from sustainable to regenerative design, focusing on creating systems that restore and enhance the health of ecosystems.

INSPIRATION FOR YOUR DESIGN

This competition encourages you to expand beyond traditional approaches and explore radical, life-supporting urban designs. Think about:

  • Interdependencies: How can your design foster mutual support among all life forms?
  • Dynamic Systems: How can cities function like ecosystems, adapting and thriving over time?
  • Radical Entanglement: How can urban spaces promote deep connections between humans and nature?

/////////////

SHAPING THE FUTURE TOGETHER

Your creativity and vision are crucial in shaping the future of our cities. Let’s work together to create urban environments that care, heal, and grow with all living forms.

Stay creative and we′ll talk soon!
