Forgotten Shadow Of The Past
By the time late afternoon arrived, I could already tell we're gonna have a hot weekend ahead of us, and of course with the rising temps, the biting gnats will be back out in full force.
Most of my morning was consumed with agreed-to duties I had with another which lasted a bit longer than I expected, but at least I was able to connect with several people I hadn't seen in years. Today's experience was just another example of how some grow old gracefully, while others are continually attempting to stall their aging processes, and believe me, the end results of some of those attempts are downright awful. One woman proudly announced she'd lost well over seventy pounds, which was likely twenty-five too many because she appeared to be looking more like a dolled-up wooden fence post.
My mid-afternoon showing went well enough to where I was once again reminded that if someone out of my past comes to mind more than once whenever thinking about a given home, then it's my cue to place a call to them. Believe it or not, there've been a noticeable number of people I've had such feelings and then showed them a given home, and actually ended up purchasing them. And no, I don't pressure them at all during the showings because that's all I'm doing is ridding myself of those mental 'pings'. I didn't get a yes or no from the buyer which was just fine by me, but I'll likely get word sometime next week.
We had another late afternoon closing today which took longer than normal, but at least all went better than expected. While going thru the process, I could tell the seller didn't understand the closing numbers which the closing agent had just gone over, so I took the initiative and went back over them with her, and shortly thereafter, she thanked me for explaining everything in a fashion where she actually understood. Before leaving, I had a short chat with the closing agent regarding the new format which will take place now that we have to deal with those buyer contracts. There's no doubt it's gonna make our future closings more cumbersome.
I have a Mid-morning appointment tomorrow to meet a selling agent and buyers at my lakeshore home, so I'll have to get there a good half hour early, just to make sure it's looking presentable. There's no question I'm delighted to see an increase in interest, which will hopefully bring forward its new owner.
While in conversation with a seasoned businessperson today, we somehow ended up on the subject of one's purpose in life, and of course I had to climb back up on my soapbox and give my own opinion on the subject which by the time I finished, had him stirred enough to where he'll possibly start looking a little closer at his own purpose.
I guess what rocked him the most, was my being very frank about how so very many people believe that if they've had children and raised them to maturity, fulfills their purpose, which in my mind, doesn't cut it because animals naturally reproduce. And because they're so focused on their hatchlings, they've become blind to the good and lasting achievements they could've made during those years, which is why I believe the more we share our talents with humanity, the longer our presence on earth will be remembered decades after our deaths. My closing question to him was, “Wouldn't you like to be remembered for many decades forward for what you've visibly accomplished for others to enjoy, or would you rather be nothing more than another forgotten shadow of the past?” Yes, I was being a tad bit firm, but I think he finally got it.
Tonight's One-liner is: Human behavior is incredibly plastic and pliable.
