Forgiveness, a very simple word to spell but difficult to understand and further difficult to practice !
So what does #forgiveness mean ? In simple terms, forgiveness is acknowledging that humans are unlike machines and they are prone to committing mistakes due to their weaknesses and thus could be given a corrective opportunity.
How does forgiveness come in to picture ? In all #relationships their are said and unsaid expectations, a contradictory behavior/action to these expectations is unpleasant to us.
Humans by nature do not like unpleasant surprises as it threatens to disrupt the very planned objectives of their life and this causes #fear of failure/loss, #anxiety of uncertainty in short pain and we all hate to be in such miserable situations.
Why is it necessary to forgive ? Being in a miserable situation is like being on fire, which will only burn you to ashes, thus forgiveness is an optimist option to support a damage control and then strive to rebuild stronger bridges then ever.
Is forgiveness a weakness ? No ! it is basically strength.. maturity coming from understanding of human behavior. It is being optimist even in adverse situations around and striving to sail your boat thru rocks towards your objectives in life. It is exploring solutions rather than being prisoner of problem.
What makes us forgive ? The emotional stakes in each individual case, this could be love for our children, companion or a friend. Basically we tend to forgive sooner or later a person who is dear to us as with them we have much more beautiful & warm memories which make core of our life or say purpose, reason !
Also, as we have been into long associations with them we have a relatively fair understanding of their weaknesses and sub-consciously we had been preparing ourselves for the unexpected thus we are not at shock when they commit mistakes as we had anticipated it to happen some day or the other. This helps us to handle the damage control better and work up on the relationship again on the foundation of hope that our beloved one would understand our pain and may not repeat the mistake again.
Maturity is also to understand clearly the pros and cons of a relationship you get in to, you know none are perfect and the circumstances influence you bringing out the best and worst in you accordingly.
There is no love where there is no forgiveness and there is no forgiveness where there is no love ! Because love is understanding you as you are and accepting you with your weaknesses... This is why Parents forgive their uncaring children, Partners forgive unfaithfulness and even a Guru forgives shishya.
Is forgiving easy ? It is neither difficult nor easy, it depends on your level of maturity attained by a given person"the understanding of human limitations" !
How do I do it ? The simplest way is to acknowledge that none are perfect, this makes relationships go thru highs and lows. Strive to understand self and your partner better and strive to work upon what makes the relationship more alive !
And what if it doesn't work ? Move on, one bad chapter doesn't define story of your #life :-) !
Stay Blessed, Be Happy !

9 年How do I forgive? Firstly I look up to the heavens above, where the source of all that is created rests. I close my eyes then inhale the mighty power from the sun or even the moon, and I say, pour down upon me love and compassion, and I will do the same to all unlimited beings with whom I share the planet I live in. While exhaling, I imagine blowing out to the rest of the world the love and abundance I have just received and we all light up like heavenly beings. I picture those who have offended me, intentional or not, to be standing right in front of me, and I say to them one by one, "I forgive you, and I ask that you forgive me, too." I imagine them saying the same to me, until all that have offended me have been forgiven. I do this as many times until the heaviness in my heart leaves. Believe me, when I run into these people again, the pain in remembering the offense has somewhat vanished, the hurt has dissipated, opening up a fresh start for me and those whom I have misgivings for. The best part of the exercise was, that the lingering heavy energy in me has been replaced with light, good and useful ones!
