Forgiveness in Love

Forgiveness in Love

Is there someone you love whom you cannot forgive? Take some time to answer this question…

Do you have a name in mind?

Do you know that if you cannot forgive someone you love, you do not love that person? The question above actually contradicts itself. Ano ba tawag doon sa Ingles, oxymoron?

Kasi if you love a person, you will forgive him or her despite whatever they have done against you. Kung gusto mo maintidihan ibig sabihin ng love na ito, look to God. He forgives us when we repent, no matter what sin we commit, kasi love Nya tayo.

The people who will not forgive those they love do not understand the meaning of “love and forgiveness.”

According to 1 Corinthians 13, love is something you give to others, not require from them. Sabi doon love is patient, kind, bears all things, endures all things, and will not keep a record of wrong. Not keeping a record of wrong does not mean forgetting the sin; instead, it means not demanding payment anymore. Meaning true love forgives.

On the other hand, to forgive means canceling the debt of the other person. Mahirap gawin ito especially kung feeling mo malaki yung kasalanan nya sa iyo. Unless you love the person enough, you will not be able to forgive. Para sa akin, your willingness to forgive is a measure of how much you love that person.

Saan ko nakuha ang konsepto na ito? Kay Jesus! Jesus cancelled our debt by dying on the cross so He could pay the penalty God requires. He did not require us to suffer kasi love Nya tayo. Tapos, as He did this, sabi Nya sa John 13:33, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” He tells us that we should love others at their worst, not only at their best.

Pero someone told me na before sya magpatawad kailangan muna pagdusahan nung tao ang kasalanan nya.

Responsibilidad ba natin ang maghusga and magpataw ng parusa? Diba kay God yun? Sabi pa nga Nya, na He will not leave the guilty unpunished! Pero often nababagalan tayo kay God so we take matters into our own hands. When you do this, we rob God of His justice. When you do this, ikaw naman ang makakagawa ng kasalanan kay God kasi sabi Nya if you continue to be angry with your brother, you are a murderer.

There are people I love that I had a hard time forgiving. But I willed myself to forgive, not because they deserved it but because I love the Lord. Kasi love ko si God; I decided to love them enough to forgive what they have done.

If you cannot forgive the person you love, you do not love that person anymore. But if you love the person, you will cancel his or her debt. You will not require them to pay anymore so that God may be pleased with you and reward you.

So, forgive the one you love.
