Forgive More
A story of forgiveness to end the year with, please read if you have a moment ??????
My dad sends money to a certain man he knew decades ago (we'll call him Mr Boss). Interestingly, my dad has every right to hate this man and even wish him more harm but he has taken a different approach, here is the story
I've shared on here about some of the journey my dad has been on. Mr Boss took my dad on as a young man to come work for him
While there;
?? My dad grew his knowledge of the printing industry
?? Mr Boss financially supported my dad to get a room next to the office so he can get to the office quicker. It was while there that he met my mum
?? He made contacts who connected him to his next role. It was while at the next role that his influence grew, he saved up enough to start his own company which supported me and my siblings to get to where we are today
Unfortunately, Mr Boss woke up one day and decided to fire my dad. No reason. My dad was a hard worker. Diligent. Well liked. Despite all this, Mr Boss fired him. This left my dad in a bad state
But it was a blessing in disguise!
While unemployed, he was linked to another printing press where he was made the General Manager and given the power to run the whole place and it was from there that he went on to start his own business
Years later, a friend of Mr Boss visited my dad's company to do some printing and saw my dad, he couldn't believe it! He saw how successful dad had become. He then told my dad about how things turned out for Mr Boss. Not long after my dad left, things took a turn for the worse for his business, he closed up and became a relatively poor man
According to my dad, hearing this saddened him because despite Mr Boss firing him, he still felt a lot of gratitude towards him for without him, he won't have met his wife and may not have gotten the connection to his bigger role which then led to him starting his business
He told Mr Boss' friend to send for him. When Mr Boss came to my dad's office and saw what he'd achieved, he wanted to prostrate (a sign of respect in my culture) but my dad stopped him and instead prostrated for him

Dad asked Mr Boss how he could help him and Mr Boss told him of a business idea him and his wife have. My dad financially set him up to start the business
Since then, my dad still sends some money to him during festive seasons
End of story ??
===============================
Why am I sharing this? A few lessons here.
1. My dad chose to focus on the positives that came from knowing Mr Boss rather than the negative which was him being fired. A lot of people in my dad's shoe would resent Mr Boss but my dad chose to go the other way
2. By my dad doing this, he has no hate or resentment in his heart and that means a better mental and physical health. In fact, he gets a mental boost whenever he supports Mr Boss
3. Remember to?#BeKind ?to those around you. We know today, no one knows tomorrow

1 年Kindness is a gift that is fast losing it's impact in our society. I was just telling myself this morning that there's no experience in my life that God can't use to weave in the tapestry that's my life. So, if people like, let them be bad towards me, it's a springboard. Thanks for sharing.

1 年Good morning Enoch. This is so true. I firmly believe in the power of Forgiveness. It certainly lifts the Mental State and elevates the Forgiver to a place of freedom. Resentment causes illness and holds one bacj from living a life on purpose. I have learnt to take the path of Forgiveness a long time ago. When unpleasant situations arose, God then placed good people in my life for the next part of this journey called "Life". Your dad is a true Forgiveness Trailblazer. I celebrate all Forgiveness Ambassadors, tge little they do has a huge impact. ????????
