Forging the Future: Women Leading the Way in Systems Engineering at Siemens

Siemens UK is dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusivity within the engineering industry, particularly by empowering and supporting women in their professional endeavors. Today, we have the privilege of sharing the inspiring journey of Nickoo, a Senior Systems Engineer who joined Siemens in April 2023. Through her valuable insights, we aim to highlight the opportunities and supportive environment that Siemens offers to women in engineering.

A Journey of Passion and Progress

Nickoo's engineering career began in Iran in 2006, where she embarked on her first engineering role. In 2017, she moved to the UK after marrying her British husband, and since then, she has worked in various companies within the utility industry. With steady progression, she has advanced from a Junior Systems Engineer to her current position as a Senior Systems Engineer at Siemens.

Attracted to Siemens: A Dual Motivation

Nickoo was drawn to Siemens for two significant reasons. Firstly, during her time in Iran, she encountered Siemens platforms, albeit with limited access. The intrigue and fascination they sparked kindled her desire to explore the company further.?Secondly, Nickoo's real emotional connection to the company, all her life her mother’s dream was for her to go and work at Siemens, and when Nickoo recently lost her mother last year, her personal connection and admiration for the brand led her to fulfill her lifelong dream of working for Siemens.

A Supportive Work Environment

Working at Siemens has been a transformative experience for Nickoo. The advanced and modern workplace creates a sense of being at the forefront of technological progress. She finds the environment intellectually stimulating and appreciates the abundant opportunities for learning and growth. Moreover, her manager and colleagues have been incredibly supportive, understanding her need for additional language development as she has only been in the UK since 2017. This supportive atmosphere enables her to navigate her professional journey comfortably while feeling valued and encouraged.

Daily Duties and Exciting Moments

As a Senior Systems Engineer at Siemens, Nickoo's daily duties revolve around working with the PCS7 system. While she is currently refreshing her knowledge through the Siemens learning platform, "my learning world," she eagerly awaits access to all systems. The most exhilarating aspect of her role lies in going to the site and working with live systems. This hands-on experience allows her to witness the immediate impact of her work and further fuels her passion for engineering.

A Safe and Inclusive Future for Women in Engineering

Reflecting on her experience, Nickoo emphasizes the safety and security she feels working at Siemens, especially as a woman. In an ever-changing job market, engineering knowledge serves as a guarantee of a future career. She encourages aspiring female engineers to pursue their interests and seek opportunities with international, well-established companies that invest in their employees, just like Siemens.

Siemens UK proudly champions diversity and equality within the engineering field, actively supporting women in their professional journeys. Through Nickoo's story, we witness the opportunities, support, and inclusive environment provided by Siemens. By embracing diversity and promoting women's representation in engineering, Siemens aims to foster innovation and drive positive change within the industry. Join Siemens and become part of a company that values your potential and invests in your future.
