Forget Your Age …But How “Old” Are You?

When you forget your age, you can start living.

?How easy is it to forget your age? To answer that question, you must first reflect on how old you really are. What's the difference?

In this article, we will explore what determines your mental age. Your mental age is not defined by physical aging but by your mindset, attitude, and how you live your life. We are on this planet for a short period of time, and a year is a year, period.

When visiting Paul McCartney's concert a couple of weeks ago, besides being a top performance as usual, he challenged the age task to its extreme. When this 82-year-old artist gives a nonstop concert for almost three hours without a break, it's valid to challenge the question about the difference between age and how old you are.

Why do some people in their 80s perform like teenagers, while on the other hand, you could find people in their 40s like they were living their last years?

Many argue that age highly depends on "good genes." In a way, it's true, and having parents who lived into their 90s will likely give you an opportunity to live as long as well. Still, I found that genes only have a 25% influence on aging when reading different articles.

The principle part, or 75%, has to do with the environment you live in and your choice's lifestyle. Thus, forget about your age because you control 75% of how you age.

As someone who has endured decades of challenges, changes, and triumphs, I've learned one undeniable truth: age is what the calendar says, but how you live your life—your attitude, energy, and willingness to grow—truly defines how old you are.

Age doesn't have to limit you, and the idea that certain opportunities, like starting an online business, are only for the young, is one of the most misguided beliefs out there.

Let's discuss what makes some people act "old" and what keeps others thriving. More importantly, we'll uncover why grown-ups, especially those over 60, are uniquely positioned to thrive as online entrepreneurs.

What Makes People Act "Old"

  • Adopting Limiting Beliefs

Phrases like "I'm too old for that" or "That's a young person's game" create barriers that aren't real. They're just stories we tell ourselves. Other examples of limiting beliefs could be 'I'm too old to learn new skills' or 'I'm too old to start a business '.

  • Neglecting Health

Ignoring physical well-being accelerates aging. It's easy to feel older when your body isn't supported by proper care.

  • Focusing on Losses

Dwelling on what you've lost—be it health, opportunities, or people—can sap your energy and enthusiasm for life.

  • Rejecting New Experiences

Avoiding new technology, hobbies, or ways of thinking can make the world feel like it's leaving you behind.

  • Relying on Routines

Sticking to rigid patterns keeps your mind and spirit stagnant. Change stimulates growth.

  • Believing Stereotypes About Aging

Society often tells us that older people are slower, less capable, or resistant to change. Believing these lies only holds you back.

What Keeps You Ageless and Thriving

  • Staying Curious

Never stop asking questions or learning new skills. Curiosity keeps the mind sharp and your enthusiasm for life alive.

  • Investing in Health

Whether taking a daily walk, practicing yoga, or eating well, prioritizing physical well-being can turn back the clock.

  • Connecting Across Generations

Engaging with younger people—whether through friendships, family, or even online business communities—injects fresh ideas and energy into one's life.

  • Setting Exciting Goals

Having something to work toward, no matter how big or small, gives you purpose and keeps life exciting.

  • Surrounding Yourself With Positivity

Build a network of supportive friends and family who inspire and uplift you.

  • Embracing Technology and Change

Learning new tools or platforms, such as social media or online business systems, shows that growth is possible at any age. In a previous article, you’ll get tips on what to think about before going ahead and partnering with the correct system for your online business.

  • Practicing Gratitude

Appreciating what you have keeps your focus on abundance rather than scarcity.

Forget Your Age and Focus on How Old You Decide to Be

Age doesn't have to limit you, and the idea that certain opportunities, like starting an online business, are only for the young is one of the most misguided beliefs out there.

Everything has an expiration date. You are not an exception. When purchasing food in your grocery shop, you always check when the milk, yogurt, or whatever it might be, will expire. If the date span is too narrow, you don't buy it, right?

What about you?

Do you have a label hanging around your neck stating your expiration date?

For sure, the day will come when we all have to check out of this planet, but use your remaining time to live the life you want the most. If you don't know how many years you have ahead, choose a perspective that brings vitality to your life.

Remember, only 25% of your lifespan is gene-related. Focus on the remaining 75%, where you choose how to live your best life.

Shortcut to Forget Your Age

There are many ways to summarize how to live your life to the fullest. Everything is balanced in life with pros and cons. However, focusing on the pros, where you actively can frame the future, will, without any doubt, extend your expiration date, such as:

  • Staying curious
  • Investing in health
  • Connecting across generations
  • Setting exciting goals
  • Surrounding yourself with positivity
  • Embracing technology and change

"Life is what we make it, always has been, always will be."

Forget your age and live your life as you would die tomorrow, and plan your daily life as you never will pass away!

What will be your choice?
