Forget

My mom started having memory issues in her early 80’s.
Many have memory problems, brought on by age, others have memory problems brought on by self-centeredness. They want what they want, when they want it, regardless of what they have been taught, regardless of what they know to be true. They live for themselves and only for themselves. So they FORGET…

Such were the people of Jerusalem. “Yet my people have forgotten me, days without number.” The words of our Lord about his chosen people. He tried to turn them and correct them. “In vain I punished your people, they did not respond to correction.”

I pray for our country that history will not repeat and God will not speak these words over you and me. I do not want God’s punishment. Unlike my mom’s memory issues, our memory loss will not be because of old age, nor a medical condition. Our memory issue is self-induced. If these words are spoken over us, it will be because we have become self-centered, self-absorbed and have turned our back on the Lord. It will be because we choose to forget.
