Forget the HOW & realise your dreams in 2022

What did you promise yourself would be different about this year compared to last year?

What goals did you decide to focus on?

What are you doing differently?

Or has life taken over?

We've all been there turned over a new leaf, only to have the wind blow it back.

What if this year things could be different?

What if this year really was your year?

What if it is the year that everything changed?

The year when your dream life, became your REAL life!

Everyone is an expert and a student.

No one can know everything about everything.

Some things in life are not going to play to your strengths.

Some might require years of practice.

Others years of study.

If you try to learn it all, do it all, know it all, then when will you have time for fun, for living, for relationships, for human-being stuff!?

It's OK not to know HOW to do something

It's not ok to let what you don't know stop you, steal from you, cause you to give up on yourself, your plans, and your dreams.

I'm not saying it's always going to be easy, yes some people will have less privilege than others and at times being a student again will feel confronting, embarrassing, frustrating and you will question if it really is worth it.

If you've heard me share my story before, then you'll know that in the moments, on that cold February morning back in 2012, when I thought I was going to die all I felt was REGRET.

Regret that I hadn't lived more.

Regret that I hadn't loved more.

Regret that I hadn't travelled more, tried more new things, followed my dreams made more time for fun.

When I say forget the how, I guess what I am really saying is don't let what you don't know to do stop you from being, doing and having what you want.

We only get one life, one chance at this living thing - so live while you still can!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and wisdom in the newsletter. One of the things I've noticed over the last few decades is how people's attitudes towards education differ from country to country and generation to generation.I've noticed a growing fear of failure around the world. I think one of the reasons for this might stem from how we educate our children in schools. Formal education tends to have a long lasting effect on how we view education and knowledge later in life. School is about being right and trying not to be wrong. Students are expected to give the correct answers and to fulfil expectations. Students who are taught well and exposed to learning in healthy classroom environments and well functioning education systems, tend to have a healthy, life-long relationship to learning. However, for those who had a negative experience with education at school, that poor relationship with education and exams often continues into later life and can affect professional and personal development. The fear of being wrong or of failure is often present large!

Thanks for a great newsletter full of great tips and insights. Most people think they have to learn everything before starting something new! If you wait for perfection, you will never start! Realize you will fail or hit roadblocks. It will be messy at firs but at least you are making forward progress! We can't control the action of others but we can control how we react to the world! Decide what is important to you and simplify your life. I like the decluttering idea which, to me, includes mental and physical decluttering! I particularly love the tip to supposed yourself with a tribe that supports you and raises you up! They support you and have no qualms about being honest with you to help you grow. I always say- surround yourself with people smarter then you! If you are the smartest person in the room, you need to up your tribe!
