Forget about Black Friday: it’s time for Small Business Saturday!
It’s that time of the year again, as two of the busiest holiday shopping days are just around the corner. We all know Black Friday (Nov. 26) and Cyber Monday (Nov. 29) are fast approaching, but snuggled right in the middle is an opportunity for small business owners to lay claim to their share of the money shoppers are eager to spend.
Small Business Saturday takes place on November 27th and is a way to celebrate and support the vital contributions that small businesses make to their local communities, and to the Canadian economy as a whole. It is meant to encourage shoppers to make some of their purchases at small and local businesses.
Entrepreneurs continue to try and bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic that has plagued the economy for the last 1.5 years. What’s worse is they now face various new roadblocks including the current supply-chain disruptions, soaring inflation rate, the removal of government subsidies, and increased competition from corporate giants who dominate the e-commerce space.?
Small businesses are the backbone of Canadian communities. They provide employment opportunities, serve as meeting places, provide a feeling of home for locals, and of course, play a huge role in supporting our economy. So, when it comes to showing your support, we believe it is our duty as Canadians to spend some of our money at small and local businesses.?
The Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) is hosting a Small Business Saturday contest, and we encourage you to sign up. From now until November 28th you could win $2000 or a $150 eBay gift card to help you support more small businesses.
