Hey everyone! Welcome to our ZALORA LinkedIn newsletter!

These couple of weeks have been a whirlwind of new experiences for our Zalorians, with the months of September and October flying by. Reflecting on all the activities that’s been happening in ZALORA, it seems that everyone is embracing that youthful spirit - filled with passion, creativity, and a desire to make a difference in the world around us.

In this edition, we will share the heartwarming moments from volunteering at a local dog shelter and connecting with adorable furry friends, exciting moments from a hackathon organised by our tech leaders and bright young gen z students, and the many MANY awards we’ve snagged along the way.

ZALORA Dog Shelter Visit

Zalorians took a break from our usual work routine to volunteer at a local dog shelter, and it was nothing short of amazing!?

Partnering with Action For Singapore Dogs (ASD) for a morning filled with furry fun, our resident animal lovers jumped at the chance to play and cuddle with excited pups gathered from all corners of the island.

First up on our agenda was cleaning the kennels. I know, I know—cleaning doesn’t sound super glamorous, but trust us, it was actually kind of fun! As we scrubbed and sanitised, we couldn’t help but chat about our favourite breeds and gush about the cute dogs excitedly wagging their tails at us! Plus, every time we finished cleaning one, we got to give the dogs some extra love and attention. They were so grateful for our efforts—lots of happy barks!

After our cleaning mission, it was finally time for the best part: walking the dogs! I partnered up with a HUGE Singapore Special (that’s what dogs are called in ASD) named Bheen, who was so sweet and patient! Honestly, who can resist those big puppy eyes? It felt amazing knowing that we were giving these dogs some much-needed outdoor time and socialisation.

By the end of our day at the shelter, we were all exhausted but filled with so much joy. We took tons of pictures and promised to come back soon. If you’re looking for a way to give back or just want to hang out with some adorable pups, we highly recommend checking out your local shelter!

ZALORA Hackathons

Our 2024 University collaboration series concludes with the SMU x ZALORA Product Challenge! More than coding and competition; it was a fantastic opportunity for collaboration, innovation, and community engagement!

Our hackathon kicked off with enthusiasm as we welcomed 47 teams from three different universities. The energy in the room was palpable, with students eager to tackle real-world challenges. Our tech leaders played a crucial role in guiding these talented students throughout the event, and were impressed with their innovative ideas and were inspired by how Gen Z views ZALORA!

After intense brainstorming sessions and coding marathons, eight teams emerged as finalists, ready to battle it out for the top spot. The competition was fierce, with 8 teams battling it out for the coveted top spot! It was a tough decision for our judges Sumit Jain and Sheila Laksono , but ultimately one team stood out with their idea of gamified reviews with a social twist! Congratulations Anandini Rastogi , sinthiya roy and Jules Asner Robins !

For their impressive ideas, each semi-finalist team received credits to use in their next shopping journey on ZALORA, and the 3 top teams were offered a fast track interview to continue their tech journey with ZALORA!

Special thanks to our judges and mentors, Terryin Tan , Jian An Lam , Joy Yuen , and May Chin for all your support and guidance! Shoutout to the SMU Product Club for the collaboration, we hope to work closely with you again!?

Congratulations to all the participants across all 47 teams from SMU, NUS, and NTU, – it’s been an incredible journey, thank you for your hard work and excellence! We’re excited to see where your tech journey takes you next!

ZALORA New Manager Training: Cohort 02

Congratulations to our newest graduates of the Z-CARE New Manager Training Program!

Over a course of 7 weeks, 30 new people managers learnt and refreshed their skills on managing teams, coaching, conflict management, giving and receiving feedback and delegation. Seasoned ZALORA leaders Matej Urban, Nicky Ang, Joey Flores and Charles Plumley volunteered their time to offer structured sessions and candid advice on common challenges to our newest cohort.

IMPACT Awards

ZALORA Wins Big at the inaugural IMPACT (Inspiring Movement for Positive And Conscious Transformation) Awards! Organised by the Singapore Fashion Council, and supported by Ms. Indranee Rajah, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, and Second Minister for Finance and National Development, the awards celebrate innovative practices, environmental stewardship, and social responsibility to inspire and promote circular initiatives.

As 1 of only 2 winners, ZALORA was honoured for its exceptional integration of sustainability with operational excellence, including low carbon last-mile deliveries, sustainable lower-impact recycled packaging, encouraging sustainable fashion choices, and creating a circular fashion ecosystem alongside our local partners and communities.

Named eCommerce Marketplace and eRetailer of the Year!

ZALORA Fashion Swap Party

With the focus on combining fashion, sustainability, and social impact, ZALORA, Asia’s Fashion Expert, collaborated with Clothes for Charity, to host an exciting Fashion Swap Party!

Participants brought in preloved clothing and, in return, got to choose a item from a collection curated by influencers, if they donated at least 1 kilogram of clothes. Donated items were upcycled and resold to generate funds for supporting the education of underprivileged children.

This 6 hours event collected over a hundred kilograms of clothes donations, and was a fun way to divert waste from landfills. In total, the swap party helped to reduce carbon emissions by an estimated 309.6 Kg CO2e. Beyond sustainability, the party also raised funds to support the school fees for 201 children.

Together, we’re making strides towards a more sustainable future while fostering community spirit. Thank you to everyone who joined us in this exciting journey of sustainable fashion—let’s keep swapping and supporting each other!?

ZALORA Regional Fulfilment Centre Is Officially ISO 9001:2015 Certified!

ISO 9001:2015 is a globally recognized standard for quality management, and recognises our excellent warehousing and fulfilment processes for e-Commerce products at the Shah Alam Fulfilment Centre. This achievement exemplifies our unwavering dedication to excellence in quality management and our relentless pursuit of continuous improvement, all aimed at enhancing the customer experience.

This incredible milestone reflects the dedication and hard work of our in-house QMS Cluster Committee, who achieved this within just one year. Special thanks to our dedicated team Quality Manager, Nek Fadlee Ismadi, for his leadership, and to Farahieza Izni Mohammad Basir for her invaluable support throughout the process.
