Forever Grateful!

Today I took the first step in my retirement as I transitioned into my new role as Chairman Emeritus for maurices. I’m very excited to welcome David Kornberg to maurices -- and Duluth-- as President & CEO. David is an accomplished leader with tremendous retail breadth and a commitment to customers, associates and culture. I am confident that maurices will continue to thrive under David’s leadership.

I’ve been so privileged to work at maurices over the last 36 years, and was honored to lead the organization as President and CEO for the last 10 years. 

Next month, maurices will celebrate its 90th anniversary. This is an incredible milestone for any business, but given retail’s disruption, it’s even more impressive. Looking back at the evolutions and changes in ownership, the values and culture have remained steadfast.

I have worked for and alongside so many talented individuals over the years. I’ve been humbled and deeply touched by the outpouring since I made this announcement.

It’s also been amazing to watch how a business like maurices has played, and will continue to contribute, to the shaping and strengthening of our Duluth community as well as hometowns across the US and Canada. Never underestimate the power of a single store to multiply into a nationwide chain with 900+ locations, and the impact that has not only on one geography, but hometowns everywhere.

Finally, I want to thank my wife, Liz and our family for being by my side and serving as my support system, through this entire journey. 

It's been an amazing ride. I’m looking forward to joining the maurices Board and continuing my local community service.
