Net Zero tracker , demand for REDD+ has soared by an impressive 27% over Q123. This highlights the growing enthusiasm for NbCS and their pivotal role in corporate decarbonization strategies.

With companies worldwide ramping up their commitments to net-zero emissions by 2050, the role of forests in mitigating climate change becomes increasingly clear. We are having increased conversations with clients committed to decarbonization, underscoring the urgent need to protect our planet's ecosystems. REDD+ 101

Dr Maren Pauly , our Director of Evaluation and Research, delves into the crucial factors influencing the success of long-term REDD+ interventions, focusing on forest conservation and the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

The likelihood of success relies not only on the reasonableness of the baseline, but also on various other technical factors including additionality, leakage and risk management. All of the high-integrity projects that Everland represents focus resources and activities into the areas of additionality as shown opposite.

Wildlife Works Kasigau Corridor REDD+ Project

The Kasigau Corridor has transformed people’s dependence on the forest through market-driven solutions to wildlife conservation.?

This world pioneering REDD+ project addresses the threats of poaching, subsistence agriculture and illegal tree harvesting through a comprehensive benefit sharing model that has directly touched the lives of 115,000 people living in the area through investments in health, education, water and other infrastructure, income-generating enterprise, and direct job creation. It has :

• Employed 417 people in project activities in full time positions, with 109 of them being women
• Reduced threats for 9 critically endangered or endangered species
• Recovered over 498 snares
• Increased employment for women- 1,821 women have been employed through the Hadithi enterprise

22,207,836 tonnes of verified CO2 emissions avoided to date

Kasigau Corridor eco-charcoal production featured on Kenya Television Network

Over 2 billion people rely on solid fuels like charcoal for cooking, often leading to significant environmental damage. Traditional charcoal production requires up to 10 tons of wood per ton of charcoal. At KCRP, a sustainable initiative uses pruned shrubs instead of cutting trees, with nine staff producing up to 500 kg of briquettes weekly. This eco-friendly charcoal reduces deforestation and provides affordable cooking fuel for Kenyan families.

Our CEO, Joshua Tosteson , traveled to Peru's Ucayali State to see the Amazon rainforest's challenges firsthand. He found a fragile ecosystem threatened by expanding roads and illegal activities like logging and drug trade.

In communities like Dulce Gloria, leaders such as Maximo Perez are working to preserve their traditional way of life through initiatives like REDD+.

Joshua calls for urgent action, highlighting REDD+'s vital role in helping communities protect forests and promote sustainability. His journey underscored the need for global support to save Amazonian tribes and forests before it's too late.
