Forest carbon, Xilva GRADE?, a portfolio you can fund, win in IMD Startup Competition
Can we rely on existing carbon standards?
At the start of this year, you may have read a negative article bashing Verra’s carbon standards, claiming that more than 90% of rainforest carbon offsets are essentially, valueless. Verra has questioned the studies and denied the claims made in the article but the damage is done. Most likely, you have formed your own judgment on the matter, and passionately defended your arguments with likeminded, well-informed people in your network.
Xilva’s answer to the arguments lies in our proprietary project assessment methodology, the Xilva GRADE?, which scores projects across 5 core criteria.?Read this short post which gives you a fresh angle to the debate.
If you have your own pipeline of forest projects and would like Xilva’s help to assess them, you’d be pleased to know we now offer the Xilva GRADE? as a service.?Contact any of us today to discuss your requirements.
‘Tis the season of sustainability reporting
We know many of you are now busy with the corporate sustainability reporting season, or are just finished with it. After all the data collection and number crunching, and ultimately the realization that your organisation needs to act on social and environmental issues, Xilva can help you find good quality forest projects to maximise your positive impact.

We’d like to share with you these 2 projects: ?Native ecosystem restoration in Nicaragua which aims to provide carbon finance to local communities and is looking for funding to scale up to the next stage, and True Forests for Livingstonia which has been working in rural Malawi since 2005 and has significantly empowered the local womenfolk and positively impacted the lives of many in the local communities, and now needs funding to plant almost 1 million trees in the coming planting season.

An investable forest portfolio
If it's a massive impact you are after, you may be interested in not just one or two forest projects. After screening and grading multiple projects, Xilva has built a portfolio of investable forest projects with ready financials.
Let us know if this is something you are interested in, and we’d be happy to show it to you.
We won in the IMD Startup Competition!
Lastly, we are very excited that Xilva is one of the winners in the 25th annual IMD Startup Competition, announced last month! This means we will soon start working with the EMBA class 2023 of the IMD Business School on a solution that facilitates the transparency of investment data for sustainable and scalable forest projects.
Stay tuned for more updates!
