The forest can teach us about failure?!
Ignited Word
Helping organizations and teams doing uncommon things to tap their creativity for social good.
The deep shadows in a forest can harbor elemental fears; and in the shadows of the social sector, "failure" lurks like an unnamed creature. Traditionally that is with good reason - the stakes are high and funders are not usually permissive of the learning that can come from experimentation, as experimentation is uncertain and can lead to failure.
So we need new imagery, not only for failure, but also for growth and progress, that illuminate their cyclical, rhythmic, and sometimes erratic natures. What better teacher than nature, and what better provider of imagery than the forest?
As forests invite exploration, please explore our new resources that look deeply at the relationship between the social sector and failure.

Poetry for the Other Brain
Eureka experiences. New understandings and revelations. These are the goldmines of the human mind. Over millennia of human history, and even today among the most rational fields of endeavor, it is recognized that the greatest leaps of insight often erupt from the non-rational part of our brains—our hearts, our spirits. There's no greater known food for the heart and spirit than poetry.?
Cast away any fear of poetry you may have; spend time relaxing with our selection of poems on fighting oppression, honoring the environment, and connecting across racial divides, and you may find new areas of your mind opening up. Access it here!

Our Anglerfish infographic is a metaphor for acknowledging that staff in the bowels of an organization need the big-picture view that would enable them to be fully active participants in the life of an organization.
