Shortly after his second inauguration, President Trump ordered a 90-day suspension of most foreign aid, disrupting USAID-funded initiatives worldwide, such as the SERVIR Programme, the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme, Drought Resilience Impact Platform, and Youth Mappers. This abrupt halt has severely impacted aid-dependent regions like Africa, where USAID has been key in leveraging space-based technologies for development efforts.

SANSA Hartebeesthoek ground station to provide critical TT&C support for IM-2 lunar mission

The South African National Space Agency is playing a crucial role in the Intuitive Machines-2 (IM-2) lunar mission, providing tracking, telemetry, and command support from its Hartebeesthoek Ground Station. The Hartebeesthoek facility will continue to provide TT&C services during the mission’s critical phases, including the Athena lander’s descent and surface operations on the Moon.
