The Forced Passage by Ivo Arrey Mbongaya

The soul held captive

By the addictive

First rains upon the carpet

Of spreading Earth 

I wait to see the leafy greens

Timidly and boldly grin

From the nutrient filled bosom

Of the attendant Earth. 

Then the uncaring crowd gather

The creaking and complaining twigs

To set fire upon the now radiant greens

Raining havoc upon the once blissful soul

I cry as a swallow overheard

Announces the forced passage into a premature summer.

The drying of life greens

Into cranky heaps of brown. Discordant Alleluia.
