Force Majeure – The Ultimate Grey Area
Last night, I proofread a new contract that my wife was signing for her business. She usually has about 1-2 new contracts per week that I look over, just to double check everything. Most contracts are nearly identical, except for the specific terms of the agreement.
However, last night, I re-read one section about 20 times. I’ve seen this section in every contract I’ve ever seen, and I’ve never thought twice about it. But I started to think… does this situation that the world is currently in qualify?
I’m no lawyer, but I’m pretty sure there are going to be A LOT of contracts will come into question very soon.
There are also going to be a lot of lawyers making a lot of money to sort this out. And there’s probably a variety of opportunities for entrepreneurs and investors to take advantage too. (For example, buying up valuable contracts from distressed companies for pennies on the dollar.)
Any thoughts on this?
