FORCE

The FORCE in our work is the Foundation of Relevant Clinical Evidence.

Everything else we do (Overviews and Recommendations, alerts to new updates, Practice-Changing Updates, semantic search with direct-to-answer results, comprehensive topic summaries, DynaMed EBM Focus, DynaMed Resident Focus, Evidence-Based Integrative Medicine Updates, point-of-care CME, supporting guideline development and updating) rises and falls on our Foundation of Relevant Clinical Evidence.

The FORCE is all around us. It is not just the research reports with statistics. It is the critical appraisal and clinical understanding of the non-statistical aspects and application of the research. And it is not just research evidence - evidence for knowing and guiding decision-making also comes from clinical experience, patient values, and context-specific considerations.

Taking all of this evidence, determining what is relevant clinically, and determining what we know (precisely, concisely, and accurately) is the foundation.

Learn to disseminate this well by learning to describe it more clearly, by learning how others receive what we transmit, and by making more connections for dissemination. Learn to integrate this well by learning how changes in evidence (the facts themselves, the analyses applied, the perspectives shared, or the context as things change in our health care system) interrelate and how we can quickly change other representations as the evidence changes.

Relate back to the FORCE as you complete your work. Learn to channel the FORCE, then a JEDI (Just-in-time Evidence Disseminator and Integrator) you will be.
