“Bubbling Beauty”

July 7, 2024

By Kimmy Foulds

Mesmerized while admiring another magnificent drone footage recently of singing whales, the author would like to share the miraculous bubbling beauty on ABC News of the majestic toothless humpback whale baleen species as they methodically forage their 10-foot-wide open mouths of curtain comb like fibrous plates made of keratin, the same protein in hair and fingernails, that are a filter-feeding system sieve to strain prey from saltwater for their desired source of food to trap krill, crustaceans, plankton, anchovies, cod, sand lance, copepods and capelin.

Humpback whales are also known as mysticetes (Greek for mustached whales), can reach up to 50 feet long (as tall as the iconic Hollywood Sign) with their body mass over 50,000 pounds (size of a Fighter Aircraft) eating 3,000 pounds (size of a compact car) a day within 18 hours throughout their 30-minute intervals of daily logging, are most photographed for breaching out of the ocean as they surface quickly to lunge for their meals, which is fascinatingly worth a lifetime to hear, see and observe as the author has experienced many times when personally boating in the Pacific Northwest, whale watching or deep sea fishing from coast to coast.

As the author adores her love for the sea and all marine life, she recalls publicizing on location for a gorgeous NOVA documentary around the Pacific Ocean of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada entitled, Swimming With Whales, narrated by Gregory Peck as a scientific voyage in search of humpbacks, killers, grays and other whale types appearing close up in spectacular natural habitats both above and below the incredibly designated sounding waves, coruscating breath taking scenery and unforgettable thumping on the crews' sizeable boats.

In reverence for astonishing environments and vast oceans on this Earth, the author abides with her soul by the Holy scriptures, “So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.,” Genesis 1:21 New International Version (NIV) of the Christian Bible; Still, the best-selling book of All time.

Reflect, from sunrise to sunset.
