Footsteps in the snow and words on the wind
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have your posts read by one million readers? Have you pondered what it would feel like? But more importantly have you considered what you would say? Every time we post or truly every time we speak our thoughts and words could perhaps by some incredible chance, reach more than we might ever have imagined. What are we saying?
I grew up with this story, it goes something like this. A man went out one snowy evening on his way to get a drink at the local bar. He traveled the same rout he always went, his feet knowing the way. But just before he opened the door to the drink waiting within, he looked behind him at his prints in the snow. And what he saw caused him to pause, for there he witnessed his son, carefully stepping in each print left by his father, following faithfully in his every step. The man paused and then turned buying milk instead.
It may be that our posts or even our words will never reach a million pairs of ears or eyes but they do reach someone. What are we saying? Where are we leading? Is the destination worthy of us? Each word we write or each word we speak has a chance of impacting someone around us. Will that word produce the result we desire or will it lead somewhere else.
On a snowy day where will your footprints lead? Is it somewhere you want others to follow? What are we saying? Is it truly worthy of us?
Next time you write a post or give an opinion consider this, what if it reached a million people. Is this truly what you wanted them to hear?
Blessings!
