The Garthwait Leadership Center (GLC) empowers Gettysburg students, employees and young alumni to lead ethically and effectively through our expertise in facilitation, coaching, and outdoor experiential learning. The Garthwait Leadership Center (GLC), through collaborative partnerships across the institution, creates intellectual and experiential opportunities for students and alumni to develop leadership skills. Through these experiences, students and alumni identify and reflect on their passions, and learn how to apply leadership skills ethically to make a positive impact. The Garthwait Leadership Center's name recognizes the alumnus who has endowed the program, Robert Garthwait, Jr. '82, a trustee of the College and CEO of Cly-Del Manufacturing in Waterbury, Connecticut.

We are so proud of you Emily Kreider! Thanks for all you do for Gettysburg and the GLC!
For Emily Kreider ’25, an environmental studies major with a concentration in ecological and social governance, ultimately saying yes to a Gettysburg education wouldn’t have been possible without an alumna whose support for Gettysburg students like her has positively impacted her life. Kreider received a Gettysburg Fund Named Scholarship generously made possible by Alumni Board member Sara Harenchar Levinson ’09. Thanks to this scholarship opportunity, Kreider has been able to cultivate a breadth and depth of knowledge in coursework across the curriculum and participate in high-impact experiential learning, such as a Garthwait Leadership Center (GLC) leadership expedition to Mexico in January. “One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned at the GLC is to act with intention in your impact,” she said. “Think about the consequences. Include a diversity of voices in your decisions—not only try to make a change but maintain that change. See the impact of your actions and learn from others.”? Read more from this story. ??
