Food Prices

Back again here for another monthly article and this will be the third article that I am doing on retail. Can't believe that I am already in my third edition or third piece I am doing on retail. I hope you readers have had a very good Christmas holiday season and all the best of this new year so far. It's already 2022 and things I would say are even going to get crazier as time goes by and one of the things that I am going to discuss has to do with what will continue to happen throughout this year.

And that will be an inflation of food prices. In fact I am going to talk about food prices since for the last few days I have been hearing about food prices in the news which has people complaining and fuming over and I thought that I will talk about the topic because it has an impact on our lives. So I will begin by saying that food prices have been on the rise since I have been working in retail for over 15 years. Food prices have been climbing since way back when I was a kid.

For example, I remember when most junk foods like candy, chocolate bars and potato chips cost only about $.25 cents or a little more or little less. Now I am seeing these items costing over a $1 to about $4 or so. Also, some produce if I remember costs less way back in the 1970s and 1980s when I grew up. Generations before me had prices that were a lot cheaper than what occurred in my generation and today. Inflation was not a big factor back then but now due to it food prices have really climbed.

Produce like fruits and vegetables have gone up in price and of course poultry have climbed in price. Meat and other items such as fish, eggs and milk have gone up as well. So from what I am seeing with regards to it, its not looking good to say the least. With meat and poultry along with fruits and vegetables such as oranges, apples, bananas, pears and carrots, tomatoes and cabbage, it depends on the weight of the items since most food retailers charge customers by the weight.

With food prices high as they are most customers are finding ways of dealing with high food prices and that is a good thing since most customers have been buying more food than they really need. One of the ways they are dealing with this is buying less food than needed. Also if they do really need a lot then others are using coupons to buy the items that are on sales. Sometimes they never use coupons but just buy the items that are on sale which are often advertised in the flyers the food companies make or just looking at the sticker prices that are displayed on the products.

So there are ways that all of us can deal with high food prices. It takes a bit of reasoning with regards to prices and also a bit of working with math since that items that are on sale will have a particular percentage as to how much money customers can save. Also, most items that are sold will have different prices in most food retail stores since like anything else, food retailers are competing against one another in how many customers they can attract into their stores since the food retailers are working under the companies that want to keep their stocks up and investors happy.

Well, those were my views on food prices . Let me know what you think of the phase of climbing food prices by leaving your comments at the bottom of this article and I will be back next month with another newsletter.
