Food Plans - Why I don't use them ??????

I don’t!
Simple as that..
Allow me to explain......For starters...
I don’t know what I want to eat this evening let alone tell you what to eat for the next 12 weeks
And... Who wants to be on a food plan for the rest of their lives?
The women I work have one thing in common, they want to learn to be able to do it for themselves ...
They already have a diet, and want to make better choices around food so that they can enjoy family
celebrations without feeling guilty about enjoying themselves...
Often when I speak to women on the phone the first thing they say is ...
'‘I just need someone to tell what to do!’’.
My reply..
''Would you prefer to be able to do it for yourself''..
Often there is a long pause while they ponder what I have just said...
You see for years its been this diet plan, that diet plan and a whole heap of exercise thrown into the mix just to get them to the next event or goal in their life...
My question is ...
What happens when you stop following the plan and life throws a curve ball?
The wheels fall off that’s what, and its right back to the start
Feeling like a failure another diet that didn’t work
Here’s the thing...
There will always be weekends away, birthdays, weddings and celebrations...
That’s life..
You see for years I would have been of the same mindset...
Follow the plan to the letter
Get from point A to point B
But I wasn’t learning to do it for myself...
I was following a plan that had been set out for me ..
I had no input...
I was just doing it with no real long term goal...
expecting it to magically become part of my everyday life..
Eventually I’d get sick of it or bored and throw the towel in
Telling myself that it didn’t work for me..
Why?
because it wasn’t part of my every day behaviour, and I hadn't learnt to do it for myself...
I hadn’t learnt that if I had a bad day it was ok
And that I could start again tomorrow...
If there is one thing that you take away from this e mail its....
Weight loss starts with our own relationship with food, its a mind set, a behaviour change.
Not starvation diets and military boot camps.
