What food items should you eat if you suffer from Covid-19?
A healthy diet to boost immunity is the concern of every person in mid-covid-19. Covid recovery is possible only through the right food and medicines.A diet that includes the right amount of calories, nutrition, and protein is the uncommonly essential part. The question arises of what food items the one should if they are suffering from covid-19.
The person suffering from covid19 must be given a good amount of fluids, up to 2500 calories per day. To fight against muscle loss and to keep the person immune he/she should eat every 2-3 hours a day. Rather than having three meals per day, fragment it into six meals per day. Covid Patients are quarantined; they are bedridden and can't move properly. It's hard for them to do any physical activity.
World Health Organization (WHO) has mentioned food safety and nutrition. Following are the food helps in fulfilling calorie amount and covid recovery.
1. Fresh Fruits:
Fruits enriched with vitamin C and zinc detoxifies the cells. Orange, Kiwi, Strawberries, Grapefruit are the best fruits with a high amount of vitamin C. In the morning, lemon water with hot water helps the body in hydration and gain energy.
2. Vitamin D:
Sitting daily in the sun is the best any person could do. But due to the pandemic going out has become a resilient task. For covid recovery, we can consume it through fatty fishes such as salmon, tuna, and mackerel, fish liver oils, beef liver, cheese, egg yolks, and chia seeds. These items help the body in better absorption of vitamin D.
3. Seasonal vegetables:
Seasonal Vegetables with iron, potassium, magnesium, and calcium should be a part of daily meals. These vegetables help the most in keeping immunity strong. Cauliflowers, broccoli, cantaloupe, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, red bell pepper are immense sources of vitamin C.
4. Grains and Legumes:
Carbohydrates and protein present in whole grains, and legumes provide energy to the body to fight covid19.
5. Protein:
The protein requirement of every person is different. For better covid recovery, a person should consume 75-100 grams of protein every day. Milk, eggs, yogurt, cheese, meat/fish/poultry are rich sources. Vegan or vegetarian can eat tofu, peanut, or nut butter.
6. Zinc Source Foods:
Zinc is the most vital mineral. The body can cope up well if the person suffering will consume enough amount of zinc. This mineral boosts immunity and decreases the chances of getting infections at a cellular level. Below is the list of food items that are high and top in zinc.
