Food is Family

More than ever, families need food for today and hope for tomorrow . In Central Florida, one in seven of our neighbors faces hunger, whether that’s due to a root cause like lack of affordable housing, education, or working a low-wage job. Add inflation, supermarket sticker shock, and an unplanned medical bill to the mix, and it’s too much to bear for strained budgets.

You are a beacon of hope for our neighbors. Your support of Second Harvest Food Bank allows food to flow through 500+ partner organizations and into the hands of kids, families, and seniors when they need it most. With the nutritious food they need, our neighbors, like Annette, can focus on training for better jobs, finding stable housing, and raising healthy kids.

“You are a blessing,” says Annette. She is a single mom in a multigenerational family. Her parents moved in recently to help her raise three kids. She’s juggling higher bills, gas prices, and the cost of food. “When I went to the grocery store, I could only fill one bag with food before running out of money. That won’t last us very long.”

At a food pantry in Palm Bay, she left with a trunk filled with groceries, including chicken, canned soups, beans, and fresh produce like cabbage, apples, potatoes, and watermelon.

“You give me the peace of mind to be able to go home and feed my family today and for days to come,” says Annette. “This gives me hope.”
