Food that does you — and the world — good
Egglife Foods, Inc.
Transforming the future of food through the joyful simplicity and unexpected power of the egg.
By: Logan Soraci, brand manager of innovation at Egglife Foods, Inc.
I started my “professional” career farming in Western Nebraska, where I became enamored with the idea of providing food for people for a living. I’ve had experience throughout my career thus far scaling small, but disruptive, nutritionally-advantaged food brands in up-and-coming categories to managing large legacy brands in very developed categories. I have always gravitated toward healthier foods and brands both personally and professionally, which is what landed me in my current role as Brand Manager of Innovation at Egglife Foods and is the reason National Food Day resonates with me.?
National Food Day takes place annually on October 24 and aims to shine a spotlight on the continued need for healthy and nutritious food, and encourage people to “Eat Real.” This really hits home as I think about my role at Egglife Foods, and is something we should all reflect upon.
How has Egglife Foods created a vision that supports the theme of National Food Day? At Egglife, we’re all about simple and delicious nutrition. No gimmicks. We value transparency, and that is apparent in our products. Unlike many other tortillas or wraps in the category with long ingredient lists, egglife wraps are a clean label option made with egg whites and just a few simple ingredients. We’re very overt, transparent and proud of what is in an egglife egg white wrap, which is why our nutritional label is short and our macros are prominently highlighted on the front of our packaging. We’re on a mission to reimagine the future of food, utilizing eggs to fundamentally disrupt traditionally flour-based products and categories, providing healthy options our consumers can feel great about eating.?
What does “reimagining the future of food” really mean and entail? Innovation is change that creates value. As we think about the future of food and the role that Egglife can play in defining what that means, we will continue to push boundaries and think of new ways for consumers to enjoy the foods they love in a healthier way.? Eggs are a nutritional powerhouse with the potential to transform into a myriad of products — and wraps are just the beginning for us. The future of food is using eggs to create something that didn’t exist categorically. We’re not just unlocking a retail category, but consumer behaviors across the board.
Are there any food trends you think will have an impact on the space and further National Food Day’s mission of “Eat Real”? The pandemic has completely shifted consumers’ consumption habits, forcing people to think through what they are putting into their bodies. This is a main reason many ‘better for you’ and wellness brands are seeing such great growth. On top of that, this consistent consumer evolution from both a health consciousness and sustainability standpoint is driving curiosity behind new diets and eating habits. For example, a big diet trend that proliferated during the pandemic is keto. Even if someone isn’t fully keto, this diet is forcing more cognizance around mindful carb intake. In turn, brands are working to cater to this and that’s exactly what egglife did. We created an incredibly versatile product that is low carb, no sugar, low calories and high in protein — and can be made as indulgent or savory as one would like.
What are three things egglife is doing to be a disruptor in the space? Simple.
How can people celebrate National Food Day? The Coloradoan in me says go enjoy a local craft beer! The Egglife Foods and food lover in me says go support your local farmers market or local eateries in your neighborhood, but above all, be sure to enjoy some quality, real food.?
National Food Day is pretty simple: you have one body, think about what you’re putting in it. It’s key to consume food that does you good — and that does the world good, too.
