Food - the forgotten primal instinct

FOOD

Some of the most simple truths have been locked away somewhere in the “primitive” part of our brain, the part that we don’t pay too much attention to anymore. Our sophisticated minds got used to almost unlimited choices of how to satisfy our desire for food. Food has become very much an emotional choice rather than a selection that Nature provided according to the season and geographical location. With this, I don’t say that it is not wonderful and deliciously enticing to have fresh strawberries, bananas, oranges and any other produce available in the mid of winter. It is a common “luxury” if you live in the Northern Hemisphere, or the Southern part on the other side of the Equator.

Fact is, that you have a huge amount of choices of fresh, frozen and packaged foods today. And this brings us to the focus of today’s theme. But fist I have a question for you: “Do you eat for energy?”

Don’t continue reading now until you have honestly answered this question for yourself...--------------------------------------------------------------what do you put on this line? A “yes” a “no” or even either one, with an added “but”???

Alright, we are creatures of habits and within the last few decades adopted to a modern lifestyle of convenient food choices. It is something that everybody else seems to do; and here is where we usually fall asleep and shop and eat food in a semi conscious state of mind at best. We only wake up if something hurts; our body needs to scream to get our attention!

When we are still young, at least within the first 20 years of our life, we did not pay much attention to whether the food we ate gave us

energy, or not: energy was just there for us. But now it may be different.----

Let me ask you:

1. Are you often tired after a meal?

2. Do you get bloated, or feel discomfort in your digestive system after a main course?

3. Do you have cravings for, or allergies toward certain foods?

4. Do you get constipated or have loose stools after certain foods?

5. What about flatulence or smelly stools?

If any of the above symptoms appear after a full meal, or, if you do not feel energized after a short period of quiet time for digestion, you ate the wrong food! I cannot give you any personal advise here (I would have to talk to you personally and ask you about 100 questions No joke…to get a personalized eating plan, there are at least 100 questions to be answered. But there are also some simple truths that are quite universal.

Truth is that our human digestive system is not designed to handle proteins and starchy carbohydrates at the same time. If you eat like most people eat today, then you put more than 2 types of food on your plate. If it includes animal protein and starches like rice, potatoes, pasta etc., and end it with a dessert, then your meal will be a burden for your digestive system, which robs you of otherwise available energy. Why? Because your digestive juices are very specific for the different food groups and will compete (declare war on each other) within your stomach. This will exhaust you! No wonder your energy sucks after such a meal.

Packaged and processed foods will drain your energy too. You think you feed your body; but you are starving with a full stomach!

The obvious long- term outcome is clear: chronic, systemic diseases like cancer, diabetes, hypertension, obesity, low sex drive, addictions, chronic pain, and the list goes on. Your life may be unnaturally shortened, and you may have to live it without much luster and energy.

Is it worth it? No, of course not! But we do it anyway, because our bodies deal with any, even the most horrific assaults up to a limited time.

There will be warning signs much earlier though; they come in the form of feeling tired, generally unwell, or maybe just being unable to see clearly who you are. Beside your physical body, the food you eat has also a major effect on your mental and emotional well-being…. there is so much more to say about this but we don’t have the time here.

Just visualize and remember:

Only live food (with its enzymes intact) can sustain and build new healthy cells.

If God did not make it, do not eat it! And if you must eat prepared food from the shelves, look out for added chemicals; if you cannot pronounce what is added, don’t eat it! J

Live food creates live and healthy cells and life force energy. That makes food sacred as your body is sacred too.
