Shalom from Safed,

? May Hashem protect all of the inhabitants of the land of Israel within all the Jewish nation all over the world and grant the return of ALL hostages healthy, safely and immediately. Immediate victory in this war, eliminating ALL our enemies without casualties. True and lasting peace with the revelation of the Rebbe Melech Ha’Moshiach immediately NOW! During the imprisonment of the Alter Rebbe, Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, founder of the Chabad Chassidic movement he was visited by a high-ranking minister who was well versed in the Tanach and concepts of Judaism. He asked the Rebbe about the commentary of the verse: “And Hashem Elokim called Adam and said to him Ayekah [ Where are you? Lit.]”. Upon the minister’s reply that this is the commentary of Rashi with which he is familiar, he stated that he wished to hear the Rebbe’s commentary, the Rebbe answered. When an individual comes to the age of…and the Rebbe noted the exact age of the minister, Hashem inquires by him, Ayekah – where are you? Do you know what you were created in this world for? What you need to do and what you have accomplished already? This question saved the Rebbe from allowing his soul to ascend to heaven leaving his body and physically dying, out of feeling he has reached completion in his service to Hashem here in this world. The minister’s question aroused the Rebbe to the awareness that he still had work to be done in this world. Every Jew must constantly ask himself the question Ayekah? – Where are you? By the Rebbe this prevented the parting of his soul from his body. By another Jew this reminds not to listen to the Yetzer Ho’rah – Evil inclination. On the contrary, to overcome his temptations and fortify ourselves through Torah study and observance of the Mitzvot. ?To receive, guidance and consultation in exercising the question "Ayekah" and finding answers to this question, you are invited to contact me. Good YomTov! May we all be Inscribed and Sealed for a Good Year in the Study of Chassidus and the Ways of Chassidus Good Shabbos. May we all have a Safe, Victorious, Healthy and Warm Winter Moshiach NOW! Eliyahu

?Vayishlach - Battling?for?a Name?

May Hashem protect all of the inhabitants of the land of Israel within all the Jewish nation all over the world and grant the return of all our hostages healthy, safely and immediately. Immediate victory in this war, eliminating ALL our enemies without casualties. True and complete peace with the revelation of the Rebbe Shlita Melech Ha’Moshiach immediately NOW! ?

This week’s Torah portion begins with Yaakov returning to Israel and preparing to meet his brother Esav. Before he met his brother, he wrestled with the Angel of Esav. Upon defeating the Angel, Yaakov refused to release the Angel until he blessed him. The Angel blessed him and gave him a new name, Yisrael ``Because you have wrestled with Angels and men and succeeded.” The defeat of Esav’s angel represents the ability to conquer and control our animal nature. Later, Hashem blessed him and affirmed his new name. ?? ????In the other instances in the Torah where Hashem changed someone’s name (such as Avraham and Sarah), the original name ceased to be used. The name Yaakov, however, continues to be used both?for?Yaakov the patriarch and?for?the Jewish people. Since Yaakov retained his original name, we must understand what was accomplished by the naming and how it affects us. ?? ??The name Yaakov comes from the word Eikev, which means heel, beginning with the Hebrew letter Yud. It was given because Yaakov was born grasping Esav’s heel. The root Eikev is also related to the Hebrew?for?deceit. The Yud at the beginning represents the first letter of G-d’s name. The name as a whole represents bringing Hashem’s presence into a place of concealment and resistance. ??The word Yisrael comes from the Hebrew word Sar, which means ruler. The letter Yud, which represents Hashem’s presence, is the dominant force. The renaming gave us the power to serve Hashem with open spirituality. Nevertheless, the name Yaakov remains, and the two names represent two distinct aspects of Hashem’s service. ???Shabbat?and Holidays are of the level of Yisrael. During the week we are engaged in mundane matters that we try to elevate to spirituality. This is the service of Yaakov. On?Shabbat, even our physical pleasures are part of the Mitzvah of?Shabbat?rejoicing. Even during the week, when we pray and actively participate in Mitzvot, it is the level of Yisrael. When we engage in business, and make sure to follow the Torah’s directions in our daily matters, thus bringing Hashem into our mundane lives, this is the level of Yaakov. As we reach higher planes, and that which was once a test becomes simple, this is the level of Yisrael. Continuous challenges are the level of Yaakov. The renaming both allowed us to serve Hashem with the purity of our soul and take that inspiration into the service of Yaakov. ??Yaakov concluded his meeting with Esav promising to meet him at mount Se'ir. This will occur when Moshiach comes, as the prophet tells us “Redeemers will rise upon Mount Zion to judge the mount of Esav and the Kingship will belong to Hashem.” May we see that day immediately! ? Good YomTov! May we all be Inscribed and Sealed for a Good Year in the Study of Chassidus and the Ways of Chassidus ?
