A Fond Farewell

It is with mixed emotions that I head into my last day at Rinnai America Corporation. Though I am thrilled to begin the next chapter of my career, I will miss the talented teammates and colleagues who have been a significant part of my professional and personal life over the past 4? years. I am honored and proud to have been a part of Rinnai's success over that time frame, and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching the company continue to grow into a key market leader in the industry.

In addition to enjoying exponential growth over the past few years, a few discrete projects stand out as successes in the face of complex headwinds (e.g., building an internal legal department from the ground up with Nancy Vogel & Joe Matala; building a new corporate headquarters and establishing a North American manufacturing footprint with Takanori Oka, Derrick Black & Randy Kingsley; creating a new Strategy & Business Development Committee to spearhead an aggressive (but achievable) inorganic growth target with Ray VanAssche & Elliott Willey; and designing and implementing an effective eCommerce strategy with Tim Wiley & Brandon Sheets). I am truly fortunate to have been part of these talented teams.

What I am perhaps most proud of, however, is building a legal department that truly understands that serving the business is it's highest priority. From the routine to the random, I tried to ensure this department strives to (1) understand the needs of the business, (2) identify and manage legal issues, (3) communicate effectively with the business teams, (4) help manage risk, and (5) provide appropriate guidance, leadership, and management.

It’s been a pleasure working at Rinnai and with so many great people. Although I will not attempt to name everyone here, I do want to express my sincere thanks to the other members of the Executive Leadership Team (Bill Sullivan, Dale Reeder, Dennis Rohal, Derrick Black, James York, Judd Greene, Peter Reiner, Raymond VanAssche, Takashi Sonoda and Tim Wiley), as well as my fellow Board members from RAC (Frank Windsor and Yo Kozawa). With this strong leadership group in place, I am confident that Rinnai will continue it's current trajectory.

We will sincerely miss you professionally but also for the level of enthusiasm you brought to every aspect of Rinnai. You helped to ensure we all were succeeding in our various roles and respectfully guided us to perform at a higher level. I thank you personally, and hope we cross paths once again - as long as you're on my side!!
