Welcome back to this week’s edition of The Job Seeker Hub Newsletter! This week marks the final edition of our mini-series on Assessment Centres—and we're wrapping it up with one of the most important (and often overlooked) steps: How to Follow Up After the Assessment Centre. You’ve completed the case studies, nailed the interviews, and contributed to the group exercises—but your work isn’t quite done yet.
The follow-up is your chance to leave a lasting impression, demonstrate professionalism, and show just how serious you are about the opportunity. Here’s how to ace this final step:
1. Send a Thoughtful Follow-Up Email
Timing is key. Aim to send a follow-up email within 24-48 hours after the assessment centre. Keep it concise but thoughtful, expressing appreciation for the opportunity and reiterating your enthusiasm for the role.
What to include:
Example: “Dear [Interviewer’s Name], Thank you so much for the opportunity to participate in [Company Name]'s assessment centre. I truly enjoyed the experience, particularly the chance to collaborate on the [specific task or exercise]. It only strengthened my excitement about the potential to contribute to your team. I look forward to possibly joining [Company Name] and continuing this journey. Best regards, [Your Name]”
2. Stay Engaged—But Be Patient
After sending your follow-up email, the waiting game begins. While it’s tempting to check in continuously, patience is key. Most companies have their own timelines, and it’s important to give them the space to make their decisions.
What you can do while waiting:
3. If You’re Rejected, Ask for Feedback
Rejections are tough, but they’re often opportunities in disguise. If you receive a rejection, respond with grace and ask for constructive feedback that can help you improve for future opportunities.
Example: “Thank you for letting me know. While disappointed, I’m grateful for the opportunity to participate in your process. If you have any feedback on my performance, I would greatly appreciate it as I continue to refine my skills for the future.”
Remember, companies often revisit candidates they’ve rejected in the past, so maintaining a positive relationship could benefit you in the long run.

4. Stay Focused and Keep the Momentum Going
Even after you’ve completed the assessment centre, the job search doesn’t stop. Continue applying to other roles and attending interviews to keep your options open. Maintaining momentum is crucial—you want to keep moving forward, whether or not this particular opportunity pans out.
Tips for staying motivated:
Final Thoughts
Following up after an assessment centre is your chance to remind the interviewers who you are and what you bring to the table. Whether the outcome is an offer or not, handling this phase with professionalism and grace can set you apart from other candidates.
