Following the breadcrumbs

Following the breadcrumbs

Sat on a London bus over a decade ago, I got chatting to the lady next to me and she asked if I would like some free coaching sessions as she needed the practice.

This was my introduction to coaching.

I came away from the experience knowing how NOT to coach. This lovely lady was just starting out and practicing her coaching skills, but I recognized in our interactions how important it was for a coach to be a blank sheet of paper – no bias, judgement, or agenda.

And I also came away knowing that I had a deep profound desire to create this kind of a space for other people.

Following that knowing, life started presenting me with opportunities.

Executive coaching companies reached out who found my profile online (how – I didn’t even have a website?).

Different trainings would land in my inbox and I would have a deep desire to learn more about methodologies.

Collaboration partners would reach out to connect.

And so my coaching business was born and grew year on year, taking me to where I am today – living in Bali, working on dream projects with dream clients.

Throughout my journey, if there is one thing I have learnt it is: Follow life’s breadcrumbs.

The wild synchronicities

The people that present themselves at crucial junctions

The nudge to say yes even when it doesn’t make sense

It’s not about chasing shiny new things.

It’s about listening for when true opportunity presents itself and, when it does, saying yes in the direction of your true values and desires.

What I have learnt is that the Universe is always dropping hints and giving you breadcrumbs of new opportunities and magical moments.

And sometimes testing your commitment with hard lessons and challenges,

But if you follow the breadcrumbs it will lead you to somewhere profound.

It takes courage to say yes, because truth be told we really don’t know what’s at the end of the trail.

But what has allowed me to say yes continually has been the knowing that whatever happens, I have my own back.

I will celebrate my successes

I will find the growth in each and every challenge

I will hold myself gently when things don’t go to plan

This commitment to myself has allowed me to keep showing up to follow those breadcrumbs,

No matter what is at the end of the trail.

And so if you had your own back completely no matter where the breadcrumbs were to lead,

How would you let yourself live?

What would you say yes to?

What risks would you take?

What new opportunities might you embrace?

Because life will keep continually presenting you with breadcrumbs,

it’s just up to you if you give yourself permission to follow the trail.
