Ken,

We are so glad to see you've joined the AiN Family. Cornerstone has been a proud member of the group since 2020, and it's been a positive experience. You'll benefit from networking with other members, and the education programs have been really valuable. Our integration ally CMS has been a long-time member and its experiences helped us decide to join 3 year ago. The January event is great--an excellent opportunity to acquaint yourself with our fellow member companies. The Bahamas event this January 2024 will be attended by our founders, Scott MacDougal and Jody Schuhart.

Cheers,

Shea Tilton Business Development Manager

The AIN Group is certainly worth looking at, especially if you can utilize the product and service of its Vendor Partners and earn “points” towards AIN’s annual convention. Last year’s convention was well planned, informative and fun. Many AIN members have been AIN members for years and the convention is a big family get together for many.

I’ve been a Partner for several years though, other than last year, I don’t attend the convention.

Ken

After reading about this case I start to wonder if it is necessary to have something more than a logged call when placing a fire alarm system in test mode for a client.

I am also wondering if a property with fire system with monitoring from us that engages in construction by others that subsequently requests sensors be removed (as in this case) can - even with a signed worked order - still come back (in case of a loss) and say we shouldn't have undertaken/agreed/performed the work as we have training/knowledge/etc that the action would leave the property not fully protected?

Your thoughts?

Thanks,

Kevin S

The accepted protocol when you put a fire alarm system on test is to restore the system after a number of hours [I think its 8 or 10] and if you can’t restore the system, notify the AHJ and customer. A fire watch is either ordered by the AHJ or required. But the system shouldn’t be left not working beyond the allowed time period.

Your responsibility ends with providing notice that the system is not operational, unless of course you agreed to something more in your contract. I’ve seen subscriber demand that the alarm company provide fire watch, something not required by the Fire All in One contract.
