As per the Rod Anker of Rod Anker Salons and Dr. Madhuri Agarwal, Mumbai based dermatologist puts forward everything you need and need not be requiring to grow out your tresses, and make sure that the hair you do grow isn't prone to excessive shedding and damage. What are the factors impacting hair growth?

2) Do not skimp on shampoos and hair conditioner

If your scalp is excessively oily and sweaty, you can wash daily using a mild shampoo. The dry scalp requires twice washing your hair once a week that is sufficient to restore the natural oils and avoid irritation. On an average, shampooing the hair every thrice a week is taken as sufficient.

3) Set your daily routine as per your hair type

It is necessary to select the right shampoo for your particular hair type. If you have a sweaty or oily scalp, you can use a clarifying shampoo. Go for a hydrating or a moisturizing shampoo for a dry scalp, while a gentle shampoo is needed for the fine hair. Always go for the right hair conditioner as per your hair type. You may use deep conditioning or hydrating mask conditioner, or a light conditioner or a mild mousse that works perfectly for oily hair.


4) Give supplements to your diet

Sufficient nutrients intake can further stimulate the procedure of your hair growth. Antioxidants counteract free radicals and offer a toxin-free condition for cells to grow. Calcium, Iron, magnesium, amino acids, and selenium strengthen your hair structure. Also, Vitamins A, C, D, Omega-3, and co-enzymes are good for stimulating growth.


5) Do not escape  your hair trim schedule

In your pursuit for accelerating hair growth, be wary of the myths that getting your hair cut more frequently usually does nothing for the hair growth. Hair trimming during your hair growth trial even sustains the health of the hair by removing split ends. If your hair is growing 1.25 cm in a month and you have trimmed 0.5 cm, you can even get the same length and sustain the integrity of the hair. Frequent trimming does not hold appropriate unless you fix an appointment for trimming your hair every six to eight weeks without experiencing any failure.

6) Prevent from excessive hair styling

Undergoing through excessive hair styling becomes a tough call especially if it has been done with the heated appliances. Make sure that you blow-dry your hair even if it's almost dry, and run the dryer in one consistent direction in a downward movement to back off the fizz. You can also select doing on the dry roots of your hair to gain the lift, and prevent drying the hair shaft and tips. Also, rebonding treatments and hair straightening can lead to hair breakage and fizz. You can also undergo keratin treatment rather than gaining back the groomed look with a hairstylist.

7) Don’t fall for old myths and hearsay

Everyone believes in the fact that regular combing up your hair makes your hair healthier when actually, the contradiction is true. Whenever you comb or brush your hair in a day, you generate friction, and that causes excessive frizziness and consequent breakage. Brushing up your hair once or twice a day is adequate, beginning from the ends and gently moving towards the roots.

8) Watch your hair wash habits

It is a good habit of washing your hair daily, as it keeps the scalp healthy. The dampness sitting on the left side of the scalp can lead to hair fall. Make sure that you start using a sulfate-free shampoo for ideal results. Never wash your hair with extremely hot water as it can cause hair damage, causing a dry and lifeless mane. It is better to use lukewarm water instead. It is also not suggested using shampoo on your hair twice before conditioning, as the natural oils will strip the hair and impede hair growth.
