Foiling Week 2020 - Another step forward

#connect: In a year where many sailing events have been cancelled due to Covid19 we felt it was more important than ever, while taking the necessary precautions, to organize the Foiling Week at Fraglia Vela Malcesine with the usual classes IMCA International Moth Class Association, Waszp, Flying Phantom Owners, Catamaran Stunt - S9, Ifly15 by CEC Catamaran Europe Central and the new Persico69F Cup and Wing Foil Tour, all run with our partners Slam and SAILMON. In 2019 the large numbers (nearly 200 boats) made us plan for more clubs to share the fleets logistics both on land and water.It did prove useful anyway in 2020: with half participants having the ability to spread the event also at Circolo Vela Arco and KIte CeNtEr GArdA LaKE - allowed to us to increase spacing among sailors.The Gurit Forum,in partnership with Persico Marine, perfectly run in streaming by the three musketeers Chris Museler Brun? Giun?oli and Andrew Pindar, has been probably the best ever with a speakers line-up that included Dan Bernasconi Horacio Carabelli Martin Fischer Blair Tuke Anne-Cecile Turner Tommy Gonzales Giorgio Benussi Julien Di Biase Iain Percy Hugh Welbourn Mark Somerville Laura Marimon Scott Leif Drexler Annelous Lammerts Kainani Drexler Robby Naish German Mani Frers Simone Bartesaghi Luca Filippi Charles Dhainaut Gonzalo Redondo Luc Dubois Dirk Kramers Guillaume Verdier JuanK and Antonio Mermod.In collaboration with 11th Hour Racing sponsor of the SuMoth Challenge, the online Sustainability evaluation was held with the participating teams on September 17th, during Foiling Week.Taking first place was Rafale éTSfrom Montreal, Canada, a close second place went to Polimi Sailing Team, from Politecnico de Milano, Italy, and the third place to Polito Sailing Team, from Politecnico de Torino, Italy. #cooperate: At Foiling Week Malcesine we also run the trials in cooperation with Andrew Simpson Watersports Centres and Europa surf and sail.We did also start new initiatives with other major foiling / sailing events. SailGP is providing amazing prizes for the Waszp winner. We are also proud of having run a fun kids "foiling" match race camp with World Match Racing Tour , properly umpired by Miguel Allen. The 69Fsailing team also helped by letting all the kids experience the mighty Persico69F ,We did have the opportunity to use the Smark self positioning marks by Valentina Venturi#change: As every year we run the event promoting a social cause #sail4chico in support of former windsurf and sailing champion Chico Forti, wrongly imprisoned for over 20 years.
