Focused ultrasound radiation force for non-contact excitation in modal analysis
Instead of using contact type excitation techniques like modal impact hammers and shakers, a novel non-contact excitation technique based on the focused ultrasound radiation force are being explored for enabling structural dynamic identification.
Potential applications: micro devices such as MEMS and miniature turbo blades that require very high frequency excitation (>20 kHz) that existing excitation techniques can not achieve, flexible structures and medical devices that are susceptible to mass loading effect and physical contact, etc.
