Focus on Your Strengths for Better Business
So many of us have been conditioned to dwell on the negative feedback or things we do not do well. This is why many experience struggle at times throughout their careers or sustaining businesses. Why do most people struggle on their weaknesses rather than their strengths? It comes down to the idea everything has to be perfect. The reality is there is no such thing or no perfect time to do anything other than now.
Many people are conditioned to this issue since childhood.. We observe our parent’s actions and what we have been raised to believe. This also includes what we pick up from the media and others around us. However, you have to ask yourself a serious question. Do you want to play big in your career or business that you run? If the answer is YES then read on below.
The most important thing you can do to break this pattern is to determine your strengths. You have to be completely transparent and honest with yourself. Write it down and do not overthink or analyze while doing it. The key here is to build a business around your strengths. Will your weaknesses be required to be addressed to make your business successful? The answer is YES, however, this is something you can leverage off to someone else good at these tasks while you focus on your strengths. For example, if you have game changing ideas to disrupt an industry and you are a great connector then your energy must be spent there. Go out and meet people where they are that can benefit from the value you bring! Look for more speaking opportunities to communicate and create the experience necessary for others to want to pivot their business with your ideas. You may not be a great writer which is also required to communicate your message in the form of blogs, books, and social media posts. Hire someone or come up with a barter agreement of equal exchange of value to find someone that excels in these writing areas to help you. Ghost writing is very common as most experts so not actually write their books direct. Focusing on your strengths and being committed to spending time there will yield three things to your favor:
1) You have established yourself as a thought leader or go to expert by focusing on your unique talent, skills, and true purpose.
2) You have created a work environment that is fun because you are doing what you do best and loving the process. How great is that to feel this way?
3) You have established a foundation to build a successful business or career driven by your purpose.
So, there you have it. It is quite simple to lay out here but actually doing it is another thing. However, if you become laser focus on your strengths and commit to the process, the results will be off the charts for sustainable success in your business or career. Make the decision today to commit toward your greatness and get focused on your strengths.
