When we wish to build something new in our life or career all it requires is clear cut direction and focus all the energies towards the achieving. First things first when you need to think in peace and have a fruitful productive time for yourself, I turn off the wifi and the internet data so that you are not disturbed with the constant reminders or notification at least turn off all your app notifications.
I don't just tell myself not to get distracted by emails etc. but actually go off-line. Set a time limit for myself about 45 minutes is a good solid block of work in which you will just work on this one project, off-line. Keeping the time strictly up to an hour maximum. After the time is up, I get up, I move around, I look out of my window to the world physically not windows of internet really speaking and then maybe get something to drink or a snack.
Get back to work again off-line. I decide upon my defined deadlines for myself as they fit in my work area and these are required for me to achieve the set goals. But definitely I don't start the day by checking the emails. I start with meditation and deep breathing exercises because they help me to make my mind stable and calm the incoming thoughts.
Just prepare a "to do list" for the day as I get ready and then prioritise to-do-lists. Always divide a sheet of paper in four boxes and give them the following headings: Urgent and important, Urgent, not important, Not urgent, but important,Not urgent, not important and then I jot down all my to-dos in these categories and treat them accordingly. Urgent and important needs to be dealt with now!
You will find that it is easy to be caught in urgent, not important issues. Some of them might just go away if you ignore them instead. Or you can deal with them quickly and without putting much energy or brain power in them. This is the best way I have found for my own working style and it gives me clear cut guidelines for the day and to plan my time management effectively.
Likewise, if you deal with them as you go along, these priorities will never overwhelm you. The category of issues that are not urgent and not important might contain some things that are a lot of fun, your pet projects etc. but also distractions and nuisances. I am all for putting some energy into fun stuff. But know that's what it is. Of course and let go of those issues in this category that are neither fun nor urgent nor important.
For me, it is always focus, energy and work output are all enhanced by exercising my ability to stay in the moment mindfully so that I can quiet all the mind- clutter about past and future events and be at the task at hand. The only other practice I use is to work deeply on one or two projects and to pick the ones that feel ready and to stop when it feels right - before interest and energy wain. It is all the area of prioritisation and how good and effectively you do it on daily basis decides your focus areas and how you give them importance as per urgency.
The other things which are as important as mental make up is also how do you plan your daily diet, eating nutritious and timely meals and not starving or over eating any time so that keeps you fresh and energetic through out the day. Keeping good watch on fitness and weight control, keeping the mind stress free and anchoring your thought process effectively and managing emotions and their effect on my output as I have worked for companies that didn't challenge me or worked for people I didn't respect / believe in and working on a task which serves me and who I am has been amazing as a life coach for others, being just having a neutral person who holds you to task has been a massive change in my life. Stay blessed! #kishoreshintre
