Focus on! WHO publishes the first list of fungal pathogens
On October 25, 2022, the World Health Organization published for the first time the "List of #Fungal #Pathogens" threatening health, listing 19 #fungi that pose a public health risk.
Classification
WHO classifies fungal pathogens according to their priority into three categories: highest priority, high priority, and medium priority. Fungal pathogens in each priority category were ranked primarily based on their public health impact and risk of developing antifungal resistance.
The highest priority includes Candida Auris, Cryptococcus neoformans, Aspergillus fumigatus, and Candida albicans, which are highly resistant and have caused multiple outbreaks worldwide.
High priority includes C. glabrata, Histoplasma spp., Mycopodia, Mucor, Fusarium, C. tropicalis, and C. parapsilosis.
Medium priority includes Sedosporium, A. Versicolor, Coccidioides, Candida krusei, Cryptococcus gattii, Talaromyces marneffei, Pneumocystis jirovecii, and Paracoccus Sporobacterium.
#Fungal #infections and their growing resistance to treatments are an ever-increasing risk, according to the WHO. However, the historical lack of attention to this risk has meant a massive gap in knowledge and a lack of monitoring, treatment, and diagnosis.
#Dynamiker has always been committed to providing the world with high-quality products for accurate #diagnosis of #fungal #diseases, and it is the first in the world to propose the "#5G+ #Fungal #Serology #Pannel #Testing" to help improve the global diagnosis and treatment capabilities of fungal diseases and allow more fungal disease patients to receive effective treatment.
