Article subject: Focus on Success!??
Too often people spend time focusing on the failures and unsuccessful attempts in their lives. This stifle advancement. This post seeks to create an alternative mindset. Let me elaborate...
I was a tactical firearm trainer for many years, and this allowed me an opportunity to train novices on shooting with firearms. This gave me an opportunity to observe these shooters in times of absolute joy (when the skill was achieved) and in absolute disgust/despair / agony, when they miss a target, or their peers outperforms them.
This made me realize that too often we develop a notion of only focusing on our mistakes, failures or missed opportunities.? I submit that this mindset stifles our growth and development.? I seek to change this mindset and create a new narrative! Positivity during the most stressful environment.?This is the key!
As I observed these?marksmen, they would be overjoyed when they would hit the target 10/10 times but be dismayed at instances where they could only muster 1/10. This reaction was not uncommon, but what I want to demonstrate is the opportunity that each of them had to look at the target differently.
For those that achieved competence, it was a statement of accomplishment.? They mastered the fundamentals of shooting and applied it adequately every time the trigger was squeezed. But the reality was that even those that did not get to 10/10, also mastered the skill, but their inconsistency in applying the fundamentals led to their non achievement.
This is where I see an opportunity!

Even though they missed 9, the objective truth is that for one shot they were accurate. They have mastered the fundamentals. They have the potential and the ability to be successful.
When they mirror this behaviour, attitude, actions and determination with which they took the one accurate shot, it is an undeniable fact that they are capable! They have what it takes success is attained! It is in the maintenance of these key attributes and actions that success becomes consistent.
When the mindset is changed during adversity, there will be an opportunity for growth, even though failures happen, this is when life opens other opportunities for you! Focus on the positive and keep improving your ability to maintain success in all reasonable aspects of your life and this will then lead to greater satisfaction and achievements!
I conclude with one of my favourite quotes “Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”
Have a fabulous successful week.
